Description
SUMMARY
Situated in the historic village of Tesuque, this 400-year-old adobe home has been lovingly updated. The location is secluded, but it is only a short drive to downtown Santa Fe. The home features gorgeous original artwork from local artists, with incredible high-end contemporary furnishing, vigas, hand-troweled plaster walls, and mesquite wood end cut floors.
LIVING AREA AND DINING
The living room is located between the two bedrooms and is furnished with high-end and eclectic furniture that offers ample seating for your group to gather. The living room opens into the dining room, which seats four, and features a gorgeous kiva fireplace. A large picture window looks out into the garden.
KITCHEN
The fully-equipped kitchen is perfect for cooking from home, and an additional four-person breakfast table is available for dining in the kitchen.
BED AND BATH
Both bedrooms have queen beds, and have doors that lead directly to the outdoor space. The second bedroom has a charming gas fireplace.
OUTDOOR SPACE
The patio gives this home its name. This large space features a gas grill for cooking, and multiple tables for outdoor dining while enjoying the foliage and landscaping.
LOCATION
6 miles to downtown Santa Fe
.3 miles to Tesuque Village Market
3.4 miles to the Santa Fe Opera
PLEASE NOTE:
- A small cot for children is available in the living room.
- The fireplace is available from October 15th - April 15th
- The home stays nice and cool given its double adobe construction which is shaded in the summer without any air conditioning. There are evaporated cooling units and fans should you want them.
- The TVs in this home are for streaming only. Cable, satellite, and basic cable are not available.
- This home is dog-friendly (for stays shorter than 14 nights) with an additional $150 fee, however dogs are not allowed on the furniture. Any pet hair found on the furniture may result in additional cleaning fees.
-This is a safe and authentic New Mexico neighborhood. Tesuque still holds all the world charm and mix of cultures that much of Santa Fe lost years ago. You will be staying in a socially and economically diverse neighborhood. As an example, Val Kilmer had purchased land and lived only a few blocks from this home and on the way up to your house, you will see homes that have been lived in by the descendants of the first families that originally came here when the Spanish first arrived. Some of these homes are a bit of an eyesore. If that bothers you the house is not for you.
- The outside of this home is monitored by security cameras.

This is a gem of a property. Plenty of space for two of us. Very easy to find and we enjoyed being about 10 minutes from downtown Santa Fe. Amazing market/cafe right around the corner. Would love to go back!

We enjoyed our stay and lived the fireplace with the ample dry wood and firestarter. Our stay encompassed some colder days and having a constant fire running while we were there was great to have.
Beds were comfortable and had enough space for the two of us. Appreciated the gas stove for cooking, as well as the implements for cooking. There isn't a dishwasher, so better bring one along (I'm that for our family!).
The single bathroom was a bit cozy, yet was vet workable for the 3 adults who were on this trip. The location is fairly quiet at night and the stars are wonderful to look at if you live in the city, as they are plentiful.
A great place to have as a private retreat, and the few interactions with a neighbor were very helpful and friendly.

Very pleasant. We saw an opera for the first time, visited the tourist mecca, and always enjoyed the peace of returning to the casita. We hope to stay here again.

We did not know what to expect from Secret Garden, but we were pleasantly surprised. We felt very much at home there.
